  • 1 cup fresh yoghurt (should not be sour)
  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsps of Laila Tikka paste
  • 3-4 tbsps garam masala
  • 6 peppercorns/ 2 dry red chillies
  • 3 tbsps lime/ lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp orange food coloring
  • 1 kg chicken (breast or thigh) skinless and cut into 2" chunks
  • 1 large onion cut into very thin rings
  • Lime/ Lemon wedges to garnish


  • Take chicken wings or large bite sized boneless chicken (half kilo).
  • Prick the chicken with a fork.
  • Take a bowl of thick yogurt/curd (100 gms),
  • Add to the curd
  • 2 tbsps of Laila Tikka paste
  • 1 tsp of Laila Garam Masala
  • Juice of 1 small lemon,
  • Crushed powder of 10 pepper corns, 3 red chillies (or half tsp chilli powder and half tsp pepper powder)
  • Pinch of orange food colour, salt to taste
  • Marinate the chicken pieces in this yogurt masala mix for at least two hours in refrigerator. Overnight or through the day marination is preferable.
  • Divide chicken among skewers leaving 1 cm space between cubes. Arrange skewers suspended across a grill. Grill chicken about 4 inches from heat, turning regularly, until browned in spots and just cooked through (9 to 12 minutes). Baste with oil at intervals to retain the juiciness of the chicken.
  • Remove from fire and serve hot with onion rings, lemon wedges and a fresh green salad of your choice.
  • The same can be shallow fried in a pan if grill is not available
